Before building MatchMate, we were dealing with the same group chats, late dropouts and last-minute scrambles to make the game happen.

Growing up in Brazil, I was never really into football, which is funny considering how important it has become in my life. When I moved back to Portugal and joined Benfica's football school, everything changed.
Over the years, some of my closest friendships were made on the pitch, and that's what inspired me to create MatchMate. I've seen firsthand how sport can bring people together, turn strangers into friends and create memories that last a lifetime.
My dream is to give everyone that same opportunity and build the world's biggest sports community, where anyone, anywhere, can find a place to belong. It's an ambitious dream, and we're only getting started. But I believe that together, we can make it happen.

Since I could walk I played football as often as possible, my father and grandfather both played the game at a decent level and it always felt like it was in my blood. Years of being on the field daily meant that luckily I got to travel part of the world playing the sport I love.
The amazing thing about football is the way one ball and a field can bring so many people together, no matter their background or circumstances. All you need is yourself, your feet and your brain. This is why it's the world's game, and this is why we want to bring together a global community through MatchMate, to share the love we all have for this beautiful sport.
From South Africa to Spain, and eventually Portugal, football has been a huge part of me. To be able to create something for everyone that holds all of my passion in one place is special and I look forward to playing with and against you all one day!
